“Just because students passed the AIMS test last year does not necessarily mean they are on track for college or other post-high school education,” writes The Arizona Republic, referencing the Honesty Gap. The article goes on to say:
“The findings did not surprise Arizona education officials. They are the reason Arizona switched to the more difficult AzMERIT exam this year, said Arizona Department of Education spokesman Charles Tack.
‘AIMS measured the minimum students needed to know,” Tack said. “AzMERIT measures college and career readiness.'”
